Overview

What is a T-tube cholangiogram?

A T-tube cholangiogram is a special x-ray observation carried out by using contrast media (x-ray dye) to visualize the bile ducts after the gallbladder has been removed from the body. The bile in the Liver is drained into the Duodenum (the first part of the small bowel). The test helps to show if any stones are still left in the bile ducts.

Who Conducts the Test?

A radiologist with the help of a radiographer will conduct this exam. Radiologists specialize in interpreting the images to carry out further examinations. They are assisted by radiographers who are highly trained to carry out the x-ray procedure and other imaging procedures.

Are There Any Side Effects?

There are no side effects from T-tube cholangiogram radiology. However, for the patient’s wellbeing, it is highly suggested to inform the radiologist about any health complications.
