Liver FibroScan Test

Liver FibroScan Testis a non-invasive test which helps in reviewing the health of your liver. Mostly, it uses ultrasound technology to determine the degree of fibrosis or scarring that may be present in your liver from various liver diseases or other conditions.This information is then used by your gastroenterologist to individualise and optimise your treatment plan. For some patients, Fibroscan can replace liver biopsy.

Risk

There are no risks involved inFibroscan, with the exception of diagnostic error, which is very rare.

Preparation

You should not eat or drink anything three hours before the test.

Duration

Liver FibroScan Test usually takes maximum 15 minutes to complete.

Procedure

A gel is applied on your skin, between your ribs on your right side. A small probe will then be gently moved across your skin to analyze whether there is any fibrosis in your liver.  The gel is cleaned after the procedure.
