Test Preparation for X-Ray Apicogram

At Star Imaging, getting an X-Ray Apicogram is a stress-free process. The preparation required for it is also not complicated. Pregnant women are required to inform the residing doctor and X-Ray technician of their condition. This is because there will be a small amount of radiation involved. While the actual radiation may last less than a second, it can be lowered if the patient is pregnant so that it may not affect the fetus.

If you are wearing jewelry or have any metal objects on you such as pins, or a belt, then removing them all before the Apicogram view procedure is done is wise.

You can also expect to be requested to wear a hospital gown to undergo the procedure.

What Is the Apicogram X-Ray test?

This is a safe and painless medical procedure that is done to view the first few ribs, the lung apices, collarbone as well as soft tissue like the muscles and skin. The image that is got from the Apicogram view is black and white.

Why Is It Done?

Getting this test done is for the following purposes:

1. To diagnose tuberculosis or any other lung infection or disease.
2. To diagnose any tumour or abnormal growth in the particular area.
3. To diagnose any symptoms of a chronic disease such as COPD or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

The whole test is conducted in 15 or 20 minutes and will involve a small amount of radiation.
